Megan Boorsma received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University in 2013. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law in 2016, where she also served on Elon Law Review and Elon's Moot Court Board. She won three brief writing awards while in law school and became part of the honor society, the Order of Barristers, upon graduation for demonstrating exceptional skill in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and brief writing.

Throughout law school, Megan worked as a brief writer at the law firm Crumley Roberts, LLC, where she assisted applicants seeking Social Security Disability. In her final year of law school, she also worked at the Elon Elder Law Clinic, providing free legal services to the elder community in Greensboro, North Carolina, which involved drafting estate planning documents. After graduation, Megan continued to work at Crumley Roberts, LLC, expanding in her role to take on more responsibilities before moving to Connecticut.

Megan loves living in New Haven and in Connecticut. In 2017, she won an award from the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection for completing over 10 hikes in Connecticut State Parks that year. In her free time, she also enjoys reading, yoga, and drawing sketches of historical figures.
