Rock to Rock Event on April 30, 2016

So, with Storm Jonas burying Baltimore, D.C., and NYC with two feet of snow, and CT totals ranging from 3.5 to 21 inches, it may be difficult to think about The Rock to Rock Event which takes place this April. However, this great event is really only 2 1/2 months away. The snow will be a melted memory, and the warm sun will welcome spring activities, including cycling! At Mills Law Firm, LLC, we recognize the importance of healthy living, achieving personal goals, and supporting community events. We also understand that great results come to light when many organizations come together to support a cause. And, that is the reason we are happy to sponsor the 8th Annual Rock to Rock Event.

Organizing partners for this event include Common Ground, New Haven Urban Resources Initiative, New Haven-Leon Sister City Project, City Seed, Inc., and New Haven Parks Department. More than 20 organizations will benefit from this event, as both money and awareness are being raised for these environmental groups. Please check out the Earth Day Ride website to see where your donations could be distributed. Remember, these organizations have joined forces with the purpose to create a healthier, greener community.

On the day of this event, Mills Law Firm, LLC attorneys and staff members will be set up at East Rock Park, distributing cards that outline cyclists' rights and regulations. We have found this to be a great opportunity to interact with cyclists, hear their stories, and share with them information that highlights cyclists' rights. Many times, riders are unaware of Connecticut statutes, and we have been happy to correct these misconceptions. We are aware that, unfortunately, there are times when law enforcement is against cyclists, too. And of course, like anything, there are always some cyclists who ride incorrectly or antagonize drivers needlessly. We are hoping that with education, this may change.

Please stop by and introduce yourself. Grab a cycling card, a bike patch, or even an icy-cold water bottle. There will be over a thousand riders with routes ranging from 8 to 62 miles. There will be festivities at both West Rock and East Rock locations. There will also be great music, tasty food, and service projects that benefit the environment. We will be there. Will you?
